Plastic swim bait skimming the grass was the ticket!! Was also able to convince them to chomp on a red eyed shad. I have always been decently insecure about my ability to catch fish in the winter. I did some research and plastic swim baits (specifically with an under spin jig head) was a tactic I kept seeing over and over. I knew that was my best shot on the body of water I was fishing. It was really cool to gain some confidence and see the method come to life. Landed some good fish. Give this method a try and let me know how you do or if this is something you have had success with this year or in the past.

I appreciate it guys. It weird to me how well the crank bait gets through the grass. You would think with 2 exposed treble hooks it would cause all kinds of problems. Hydrilla though is for sure a forgiving version of grass though, so that helps!! Keep rippin lips fellas!

Nice video and congrats. Next try a chatterbait and let it fall into grass and rip it out keep doing that ....yo-yoing it back. Can do the same with the trap. They will hit on the stop or fall. I love to yo-yo a chatterbait and they don’t get fouled as much by grass

Yes, I have not tried that method, the yoyo retrieval that is. Do you recommend a certain color for the chatterbait? Chatterbait is probably my favorite bait and it would be fun to get to keep using it year round haha!

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.
