Looked at all the overpriced tackle at academy and just sat the basket down. So, went online to tackle ware house just to find that the same stuff was $-.20-$+.40 more. Shipping free on orders $50 or more. Question is, is there any other sites that have better deals?

To me, it isn't that Academy is higher in price, it's that they don't have any inventory. Just like so many other stores, they must be having problems getting stuff from overseas. BTW - I buy stuff from TW all of the time.

Be safe,

Problem with TW is that they are no longer the price point store.

Probably the best selection out there. Great place to shop, but very few low prices. Heck, they seldom beat BPS.

It looks like MSRP to me.

Only good thing about academy is when they have some of there tackle on “clearance” or “hot deal” then you can can some tackle very cheap. Other than that there selections isn’t as good as other tackle companies out there

Serious? BPS never beats tackle warehouse on the stuff I fish.

If you hit Academy during their end of Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall sales you can usually get some very good deals. thumb

I have always preferred walking in a store, looking for what I want, and buying it locally.

Now some have mentioned that they don't have a big selection but I can walk into BPS / Cabela's / XXXXX and they have 1000's of square feet and still not have what I am looking for. confused 3

I usually only buy tackle on clearance (to justify buying stuff I don’t need and might never throw)
You tend to end up with less popular colors and styles, but the fish don’t mind.

Walmart usually does their spring clearance of tackle end of February to end of March. It used to be like clockwork, but it was later than usual last year, and only lasted two weeks last year instead of a month; probably due to world wide. shipment delays. Stores sold a lot of fishing tackle last year and didn’t get many shipments in due to supply and demand.

Academy usually does their clearance in March to make room for the new stuff. Again, it was briefer and not as big last year

Then BPS/Cabelas has their Spring sale that usually coincides with the Classic.

Then in May, Walmart and Academy do a very brief second final clearance to get rid of all the remaining tackle they don’t want on the shelves

Barlow’s has a clearance section on their website

Individual tackle companies like Mister Twister have a sale/clearance section on their website

At times Gambler lures will have a huge clearance #Fishmas sale

I've started going to Fishin World for most of my needs. If I'm paying full retail, I'd rather buy local.

I mostly order direct or from Tackle Warehouse, Brannan’s Bass Shop, Santone Lures and others but at least the Walmart in Kaufman actually has quite a few products I use. Strike King, Yum, Z Man Chatterbaits, Power Pro etc and sometimes have them on sale fairly cheap and when they have a lot of product like Strike King on sale I load up.

Discount Tackle discounts most of their inventory. Z-Man is always 20% off, most other stuff is about 10% off. They don't have as much stuff as Tackle warehouse but if they have what you need you will usually save. They have sales too.

Tackle warehouse is more expensive. They raised their prices on a LOT of stuff. Falcon rods are average $10 more for the same product as Academy. Reels too.

Discount tackle has 30% off all Strike King right now, and no tax. Free ship over $59 and only $3.99 for less. Just doesn't have TW's inventory.
