Where are the data centers going to be? Most likely 151/ Westover Hills or in the Hwy 90/ Potranco Rd/ 211 area. Those are the only areas where I’ve seen new data centers going up recently.
Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

If you’re building a business career you can’t say no because there might not be a next time. You also bank some cred by making the sacrifice.
Anybody can stand anything for 6 months
Lastly, make sure your commute is by air, not by car.

When I transferred here, I was away from my wife and my 1 yo for 3 months back in Atlanta. I kinda enjoyed it, the money was definitely right and I got to fly home every other weekend, but I skipped more home trips towards the end.

Look at VonLane busses for your travel.
Is your wife working remotely right now? She may be able to come with you.

4-6 months isn't long, but I have yet to see a project in 14 years in business that didn't go past its original schedule and usually past budget too. They get sold to mgmt based on optimistic estimates being made by people who don't know much.
I had some buddies who got sent off to field support in England that was supposed to be 6 months. One of them came back after 18. The other is still there I think - tried a couple times to come back and was told no. He could obviously leave the company but he's got so much invested...and they know it.
Personally, I'm with Bob...they don't have enough money for me to leave my new bride for what might be 4-6 months or might be 2-3 times that.

The drive from SA to DFW isn't that bad. 281 is a little better option than 35 if you want to go that way. You and the wifey could trade off on the weekend commute so that one of you is making the trip only every other weekend rather than every weekend. And there's always the occasional flight once you get enough points on your CC. If the money is good, I say go for it. I'm assuming you have benefits and your time off will accrue. So with some used vacation/sick/family sick time, you'll have some long weekends you can mixed in. For those weekends you stay in SA and she is back home, we can go do some fishing

So my name got thrown in the hat to go down to San Antonio to head up 2 big data center projects kicking off soon. Don't really know any of the details yet except that it would be for "4 to 6 months". The higher ups are working on a "travel package" right now but I dont know any of the details. I'm guessing it will include accommodations, travel expenses and pay incentives. I talked to my wife and if the money is right she is on board. But I'm not sure how much money would be "worth it". How do I go about evaluating that? We're in the first year of our first home purchase and only the 2nd year of our marriage (but no kids). Not sure how I feel about leaving for 6 months, even if I could come home on weekends. SA is a long ways for weekend trips.
What does the OT have to say about extended work travel? take the job. we got the wife covered. she will be in good hands...…...

You need to understand that something like this can really boost your career with the company should you perform. Likewise it can be your ceiling if you do not take it, or if you take the assignment and do a poor job.
Remember the travel package is not something that is set in stone, you can negotiate anything including $$. I'd ask for a 4 day work week and that your travel be included in that time. Also make sure your weekends are OFF, with no expectation to take calls or answer emails.
Also, make sure you personally receive any travel incentives like airline points.

Or you cold always decline and you'll never get another opportunity like this thrown your way.
That's absolutely correct. Then relegated to a cubicle. Placed on the next layoff list.

Y'all have no kids so this is a great chance to meet up in different areas, sight see, enjoy areas of tgecstate you have not been to ans make some memories. Alternate trips with her each week then meet somewhere for a weekend. 4 months will fly by.
