Thinkin about making up a few HD"s I have sittin in the corner of the garage in to dead stickin rigs. I've used mainly mono when deadsticking. What would you prefer if 90% of the rod/reel's life will be deadsticking and throwing sassys?

I use braid due to I am able to feel the light bite easier.

I have had trips where flouro way out performed braid. I have had trips where braid did just as well as flouro. I have never had a trip where braid outperformed flouro, so I prefer #15 flouro on all my rigs year around. I might miss a few hook sets but not near enough to make me wanna switch. I would rather not use a flouro leader either tied to braid cause to me that's just another potential failure point. This is what works for me

Braid you can feel the bite better. I usei t on my spinning reels, have one rigged up with 20lb braid and used it for deadstciking last weekend, could really feel the hits.

Champion - best of both worlds, what method and knots do you use to connect them?

Braid with a 2ft fluorocarbon leader tied on. This works. I already do this for some situations bass fishing and coastal rigs. 5-6' top shot.

Fluoro line sinks where mono floats, I like the flouro but the cost is painful. Fished my whole life with spools of biggame and never had a problem. But after using flouro, i was amazed at the amount of sensitivity it has. It is some good stuff for the right application. But, for best all around function mono wins. Using a topwater with flouro is tough and screws up the action. If you want to keep the bait down better it might help. For bass fishing I love it when fishing a worm, jig, crankbait. On my sandbass rods, the little spoon rocks on flouro. 100% flouro is over priced in my book..

I use 65# Power Pro with a 3--4' Invizx Leader. It has worked for me a long time.
