So has anyone ever had a hard time putting there old boat up for sale. I’ve always wanted to get into a newer boat especially one with a 4 stroke but I’m having a hard time putting my 2000 ranger up for sale I’ve had the boat so long and now she kinda sentimental to me but I can’t keep her and get another one. Wife really wouldn’t be down for that. The boat has been so good to me and has caught a lot of fish but I just feel like it’s finally time for an upgrade.

I drove my 97 Champion 202 for 21 years. Eventually the cost of upgrades and repairs made me pull the trigger. Bought a 3 year old boat with warranty still on the engine.

Nope. Was excited as all get out to put my 20 year old boat (at the time) up for sale to get a newer one with a four stroke. Like fivebites, it was just one thing or another every other trip or so that needed attention. But I'm not a very sentimental guy to begin with on inanimate objects as I just see them as tools. cheers

One word of advice to all you, probably, younger guys.

A boat is an "it", not a "she". Start out that way, finish that way.

"Its" are definitely a lot less trouble, and darned sure cheaper.

That Mercury looks nice. What top end are you getting out of it. Curious because it’s so much smaller than the Yamahas it seems the power to weight ratio would get more speed. I have a new ZX225 and have had it right at 75 with half tanks and everything out of it .........but most days it’s a 73-74 mph boat with all my stuff and three quarter to full tank.

Oh I just got out of a 28 year old one owner Skeeter that had so many memories in it that it was hard for me. However, I am glad I upgraded and updated. Old boat was still solid....it just was time to upgrade. I updated carpet, electronics, repowered etc funtil the one kid got out of college........

Looks like an engine with a boat attached to it.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the Merc ProXS and the Yam SHO weigh the same.

it's best not to get attached to material things that depreciate. The memories and experiences are where the value is.

I can understand why it's hard to get rid of an I-Class. My 20i was my favorite boat that I've ever owned. If your boat is still sound and engine still runs without many repairs, I say go another 5 years. You know you're ready when repairs start piling up.
