We fished a tournament yesterday for a local trail in central Texas and it rained then sleeted and then snowed......there was not a dry minute during the tournament. I have a pair of Cabela's guide mits that expose your finger tips if you snap the covering back. Within an hour the gloves were soaked and my finger tips were numb. Even this morning 3 of my fingers are 50% numb and tingly! Has anybody figured out a glove or system to keep the hands covered and dry and still be able to operate a bait casting reel? At this point money is no object!!!

I've found when it gets that cold I use my Shimano Neorpene gloves. They do a dang good job but you have to leave them on as they are such a pain to take off/on.

I wear Nitrile gloves under a pair of Simms windproof. Hands stay warm and dry. Just look for the thicker mechanic style nitrile gloves vs the thin surgical style you see at the docs office.

I can't fish as well with gloves on. I'd rather just fish and take a hand break when needed. Use pocket warmers and keep a Mr Buddy propane heater in the bottom of the boat to warm up when needed. I really only use my gloves while running the boat.

I have tried 3 different pairs of gloves off of amazon that were 5 stars and waterproof, but I keep going back to my cheap neoprene gloves. I keep two pairs in the boat and have fished in temps in the high 20's with no real problems.

This. I have not found a pair I can actually fish in. I am going to try the Nitrile under the Simms gloves and see how that works. Best pair I have used prior wad the Seirus gloves but even those are too thick to fish with for me.

Wool gloves with the finger tips cut out. Wool provides warmth even when wet. I have a few pair of Simms but there are others that make the basic wool gloves.

I am really not sure such a pair of gloves exists. Balancing the 50/50 of keeping warm and maintaining some kind of "feel" seems to be the biggest issue every time I see one of these posts. I am 51 and have tried just about everything and probably have 30 pairs of gloves ranging from 5 dollars each to damn near $100. I keep all of them in my "winter duffle". I have a couple I like to put on when I am driving the boat, they are BIG and BULKY and keep my hands warm until I get to my spot.

After that, its off with the big gloves and I put on anything I can "feel" with. Usually, the ones I can find the first match to!! After that, I tear open a hand warmer and place it on TOP side of the glove between the glove and skin, NOT THE PALM. If there is room, I will put two in there. Anatomy lesson of the day............most of the arteries carrying blood to your hands run substantially closer to the back of your hand than your palm (Take a look at your hand!) The warmers feel better when they are in your palm because of the lack of blood flow there and more sensory nerve endings, but the HOT BLOOD is coming in on the top side of the hand!! The key is never letting your hand (palms) get cold to begin with. Keep the top of your hands warm to start with and your palms will follow suit. Started doing this about 5-6 years ago and have not had a day where I had to think about it since.

I hate fishing with gloves, but sometimes I have to do it.

I have some big, clunky mitten types that I use when I’m running, and some thinner gloves with no tips when fishing. They still get wet fishing all day but they’re better than nothing.

The only time it really bothers me is if I’m running, or if I’m sitting around, though, like before a launch waiting for my number to be called, or if I have to respool or something.

Though not perfect, winter golf gloves help retain some feel and keep hands somewhat warmer...

Give me multiple pairs of cotton garden gloves or the old Moritz Chevy gloves and change them out as needed. Workable but not perfect. The other thing that has worked is silk glove liners covered in surgical gloves.

Cold - fishing gloves with fingers cut out.
Very cold - liner gloves with tacky pattern on them.
Super cold - stay at home. I ain't that mad at them.

I use Simms fingerless Fleece gloves with a mitten pull over, and they have served me well and I have dunked them fly fishing a fair bit, not perfect but pretty good

Seirus hyperlite XL with nitrile gloves underneath. There are no water proof gloves that you can comfortably fish in in my opinion. Most are just too bulky. The seirus claim to be waterproof but that's not true. They are very thin and still allow for casting, retying, etc. I keep an extra pair with handwarmers in my pocket in case the first just get too wet/cold. The key is keeping the hands completely dry. I fished all day on Rayburn Saturday and only used one pair. No nitrile gloves needed.
