One of the best moments other than catching Rainbow Trout on the stocking trail is meeting the other anglers who I have met years ago fishing the same stocking trail as I do. The same has applied so far this season. Love talking with them about every thing form how life as been treating them, solving the world's problems, and of course fishing. The time spent talking is PRICELESS. Myself and Rick aka Catyakker have been catching plenty of Trout at every stocking including catching trout days after the stocking day. Rivers, City and State Parks, and ponds have all produced very good numbers of fish. Got limits at all locations. Also released a bunch to be caught again. The bite has been hard to figure out. At some locations the Gold Super Duper works great, then all of a sudden as if someone turns off a light switch the trout quit biting the Super Duper. You then go to the Trout Bait-Cheese Colored, and start catching them again. (Go figure). Other locations it will take the fish up to about an hour after the stocking truck leaves before the fish turn on. While other locations the fish start biting right away while the stocking truck is still at location. Either way for the most part, limits are being caught. Gold Super Duper Lures, White Rooster Tails, White/Yellow Rooster Tails, and Berkley Trout Bait-Cheese Colored were the baits used. Both the Super Duper and Cheese Colored Trout Bait got the best results. Great wintertime trout fishing on the Rainbow Trout Stocking Trail. It just don't get any better.

Thanks Yesenia, Leo, and Curtis for the replies. Leo: Yes Sir Texas Parks and Wildlife has some nice places to stock Rainbow Trout. Good scenery all around. Curtis: The crowds have been heavy on the Guadalupe but other stockings have not been that bad. Also fishing a day after the stockings as been really good. No crowds at all and plenty of fish.

Thanks Chuck. I have mainly been trout fishing after the stocking days. Crowds for the most part on those days have been light. I have heard that the stockings days are pretty crowded especially on the Guadalupe. Side Note: Still plenty of trout out there.

You are right on the money Curtis. I think next season I will be fishing a lot more after stocking days.

Love following you guys on the trout trail. Great times and some super fish. You also fish some beautiful places. Judging by all of your post I guess you are catching most of your fish on the Gold Super Duper ! Other than the Berkley Trout baits have you used any other baits to catch the trout?

Thanks Gitter for the reply! You are right. I use both the Super Duper Lure and Berkley Trout Bait most of the time. On a very recent trip while fishing for Bluegills I managed 7 very nice Rainbow Trout. Caught them all on the Bait of Champions. WORMS ! Released two. Hopefully they live trough out the rest of winter and let another angler get a good fight.
