Diesel smell from the generator located below the bow berthing compartment on the sub. Napalm is another one that you don't forget either.

My earliest memories of 2 stroke smoke deliciousness date back to my Grandfather taking me out in his jon boat with a Johnson 9.5 Seahorse early in the morning, and I graduated from there once I got on my own. My last 2 stroke outboard was a Merc 225 EFI. It was a hoss. Miss that smell.

So, general consensus is....grand parents had smelly places and lives. Hahaha. I miss mine all the time. What I’d give for a few minutes with each of them just one more time. angel

We could tell if our neighbor was up the river or if it was my uncle.

Our neighbor had a Johnson Seahorse and my uncle had a Mercury like my dad.

The Johnson oil smelled different than the Mercury oil! cheers

Worse is hitting a big one and having it unleash its stuff all over the tire, hood, and windshield. I had to user the washer and wipers. Then my boss reaches for the fan switch. I tried to grab his hand but too late. I was like dude do you know where the air intake is? You could smell skunk on the tire for a week. Just glad it was a rental.
