I have always put my hook in a loop made on pole or hook it around handle around the reel and twist my line around my pole until tight. Works most time no guarantees some times I have just a big wad of tangled fishing poles .

Twist the line around the rod and just wrap the weight around the rod. Never gets tangles.

I'd suggest you zip tie the barb end of that hook so it won't be a hazard..... The rare times I tandem rig I usually just cut the jigs off so I don't have to deal with a tangled mess.....
Jigging; it's faster than chasing a minner in a bucket! REGARDLESS OF HOW MANLY YOU THINK YOU ARE WEARING A PFD CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE..... Check Out SK's CRAPPIE Catching Adventures on YouTube.... https://www.youtube.com/user/fishingorhunting
