Thanks Mark. That is comforting.
I am on a list for Tarrant Co but I have the feeling it may take some time before they call me to schedule my shot.
One of my clients had to wait 3 days, her husband had to wait 6 days, but her best friend just had to wait overnight. They are 82, 78, and 77. Hopefully you'll get yours soon. My mom is on a couple of waiting lists...waiting to see who calls her first. I saw some reports on the local news about younger people are getting in pretty quick in Tarrant Co.

Why have I been reading and hearing about folks saying that there is no way they are taking the shot because it has all kinds of bad stuff in it.. Is there any truth to that, been proven yet? I have no idea what's in it. I'm just skeptical. Humanity still hasn't found a cure for the common cold. Nor is there a cure (yet) for HIV, which has been the boogeyman of diseases almost my entire life. Yet we have a brand-new coronavirus that pops out of the woodwork, nobody seems to know how to deal with it, and there's a vaccine cranked out in less than a year? But then the medical experts and media can't seem to agree on whether the vaccine will actually protect you - if it's effective, then you shouldn't need to wear a mask anymore, right? Moderna, Astra Zeneca, et al, have been making statements that it's unclear how long the vaccine will be effective, nor how they will hold up over the long haul. Don't get me wrong, I hope that medical science has indeed pulled off some kind of miracle. I just don't want to be one of the guinea pigs.

Hopefully we made history but on average it takes 4.5-5years to develop vaccine and this one took about 6-10 months hopefully they didn’t just throw together a short term or temporarily that just slows down the virus only time will tell or In a yr or 2 there will be a better one come out.

So no one would go pay for a vaccine for it. There may not be a cure for AIDS but there is basically a vaccine that greatly reduces your chances of getting it, and there are treatments if you do get it where it’s really not that big of a deal.

I agree with your statement, and our society's ability to treat HIV today is nothing but miraculous compared to when I first learned about this disease in high school in the 1980's. But how many decades did it take for medical science to get to this point with HIV? It normally takes a fair amount of time to come up with cures for new diseases, so I'm skeptical of a cure that has appeared almost overnight.

Only difference i see with this vaccine is every Country in the world was throwing money at it, so funding was unlimited.
I would rather take the Pfizer or The Oxford vaccine than Moderna but probably will not be given any options. I had the Virus so it's not a choice I have to make any time soon.

Why would you choose Pfizer over Moderna? Just curious.

I am a Medical Provider with exposure to 20-40 patients per Day. I have had both rounds of the Pfizer vaccine, it is a nothing shot, less than the flu, with little or no side effects that I noticed. Plus I think we all had this in late January Early February of last year before all the testing. One of our older co workers was hospitalized last Jan for a lung infection. We all went and saw him in the hospital , and later became sick, no coughing for me, body aches and severe fatigue that lasted for about 6 days. So I feel triple protected.

I had the Pfizer today at 0830. Nothing going on yet. The process was five star and they even comped the normal $3 parking.
