I've got one. Gotten to use it a couple times. I'd say it helps with skipping docks, if nothing else cause I'll try it more with less fear of a huge blowup on my reel. If you do have a blow up its not nearly as bad with the smaller spool. Its not silver bullet but I'm a fan so far.

I didn't know about these, just ordered one, but I will probably just end up setting the dial to free like I do with all of my other reels I use to skip docks. here's a link and a pic.

I like the lews hypermag, I just put some braid on it them and make the spools smaller and wrap with electrical tape. I bet where that reel says skipping is just where the hypermag goes from 11-20.

If I start skipping a tricky bait I put another piece of tape on.

Daiwa steeze have better control for skipping in my experience by a long ways, but are limited to 15lb floro or less. Which is why I own a bunch of lews for heavy lifting duty.

I almost bought this reel for pitching but I knew I wouldn’t skip with the setup so I went with a Tatula Elite P/F instead.
Sweet looking reel though.

Right now all the docks around here are way out of the water. OMG

I ordered a few when they became available. I like them, but they don’t hold much line. I thought I’d use one on my frog rod....bad choice. It holds about 40 yards of 65lb braid. I cast just far enough that the backing becomes exposed and the mono loosens up around the spool. I removed more backing, and then the knot of the backing became an issue. So, I then went straight braid and passed the line through the spool to prevent slipping. Fixed the casting issue, but the spool looses so much line on a cast that the retrieval ratio is too slow with very little line on the spool after the cast.

I have decided that they make a GREAT reel for flipping, pitching, and skipping/fishing docks. They are extremely light, strong, and connected...but smooth. They are good looking reels and look great on a Falcon rod. I’d just not use them on presentations that require longer than 80-90ft casts. No frogs, top water, c-rigs, cranks, unless you can use 8-10lb line...there just isn’t enough line capacity.

This is a good review. Thanks Steez!
