How big a piece of chicken are you using? Half a breast?

Chicken breast cut into chunks and marinated in either cherry/strawberry kool-aid or jello is a great bait for catfish.

I cut mine into like 1x2 inch strips

I have caught blues on chicken. Think I will give it another whirl after reading all these great reports.

Shad are hard to come by when fish from the bank or from a kayak this time of year. Throwing a net from a yak when the water is this cold is... not a good life choice if you like life ha ha.

I fished yesterday, about all day. Had fresh shad, both large cut shad and smaller whole (5-6") shad, some bluegill, and strawberry jello chicken. Fished river and creek channels, and flats. Was slower than I wanted, but it was a nice day on the lake.

Caught about a dozen. Cleaned five, 4-7 lbs. Others were smaller. Nothing big.

8 of the 10 fish came from chicken... dont know why, but it is what it is some days.

Caught many fish from chicken parts, gizzards and liver. Used to cut gizzards in half and drop them in hot brisket grease and allow to cool. Have used chicken breast also and it is easy to handle and it does catch fish. I have found for some reason soaking shrimp or chicken in cherry coolade makes the bait tougher, works on shad somewhat if you have to freeze it.
