Take them to Walmart and trade them in for two full tanks.

This, depending on size. Or most propane companies

If an exchange place will take them I would give that a whirl.
Not sure what size they are, but many travel trailers have the larger tanks and they wont exchange.

If 20 lbers just exchange. That is what I do when a tank i own needs to be recertified or has an old style valve. Those are the only times I use tank exchange. I want the full 20 lbs for less $s

With the 80% valves that are now required on the bottles, you are only going to get 80% of the capacity of the bottle.

Occasionally I get one filled but the majority of the time I just exchange them. I don't use that much propane to obsess over and the exchange is much more convenient. Last time I had one filled was at tractor supply and I think i waited the better part of an hour before I was helped.

I have waited longer then that to do an exchange.

I can exchange them at any of the 3 gas stations within a mile or so of my house etc. Plus most places that fill them do not keep convenient hours, where as exchange locations gas stations, walmart, heb, etc. keep much longer hours.

Yep, for those that live in town an exchange might be more practical. Fortunately I have 2 places to refill as close as exchange places. It also helps being retired when dealing with their hours. When I worked I would have to fill on days off or get my neighbor to do it.
