We started the new year out right ! Fished Fayette today with Doc from 8:00 am til 5:00 pm. Water temp started out on the low 60s & ended up around 69 degrees...Water level still down 3-4 feet. We ended up with 48 total fish...35 bass & 13 sunfish. We just stumbled across the sunfish by total accident in Tomroms super secret spot. We were catching baby bass & decided to switch to ultra lite with the Gulp Alives & bam...sunfish heaven...No big ones, but the best sunny bite all winter. Found most of the better bass relating to timber & the best bite came late afternoon after the clouds rolled in... [Linked Image]

Chuck...I would call the boat traffic about "medium"...Not near as busy as the last 2 trips, but still lots of fisherman...I would guess that the Oak Thicket parking lot was half full.

Thanks Curt & Barry for the replies...

Thanks Alan, Yesenia, & Leo.

Curtis...Interesting & significant question...I started out using the chartreuse shad color & was getting no action, while Doc was still nailing fish after fish on the tequila shad worms. I switched to the watermelon pearl color and it was like a light went off under water. Hit after hit...including one of the biggest of the day.

Great post Vogey and some solid bass. As always good job guys.

Vogey: I have always done good fishing the timbers during the winter time years back. Also picked up a bunch hanging on stumps or ledges in 18 to 20 feet of water during the late spring.

The times I have fished Fayette with Fred aka Rionator we would always manage a nice bass or two out of the timbers during late spring/early summer. During the summer it seemed the bass would be in deeper water hanging around ledges and stumps. thumb
