Something I haven’t done much over the years is use swim jigs. That being said, what trailer do you prefer on swim jigs? I assume Keitech Fat Impacts would be good, but what other types?

I like a 4.5" magic shad with the skirt trimmed back to help with flow. Nice action....can't go wrong with any boot tail though. Even a zoom horny toad looks good

Depends on what cover. Grass i throw a swim bait type trailer. Wood i throw a craw type. I like the Zoom Super Speed Craw and Z Craw and the Rage Craw. As for swimbaits I like the Magic Shad like Jarrett said and a Keitech Swing Impact. 99% time im fishing around wood though.

I have narrowed down most of my swimjig trailer selections to one of two baits but in different sizes of each depending on the size of the swim jig, forage available, depth I want it to run and the cover I am fishing it around. Additionally, I have several different brands and styles of swimjigs I use depending on conditions. The two baits I use for trailers are the Zoom Z Craw (full size and Jr) and Reaction Innovation Skinny Dipper/Little Dipper. To simplify things, I use the dipper when they are on shad and the Z Craw when they are on Bluegill.

Tactical bassin guys prefer using a rage swimmer over a keitech on a swim jig because the plastic is more rigid. The more rigid rage swimmer tail puts more action back into the jig as it swims.

When you use the skinny dipper, do you cut off any of the head to rig or do use the entire bait?

I save curl tail worms when the head gets ripped up, 3-4" of worm to thread on the hook.

I’ve been throwing a swim jig for years. I would swim a jig before there was a “ swim jig “ lol. As with any bite sometime the fish want things a little different. I use a fluke jr. Paddle tail or a Little Dipper a lot. There are days when they want that jig reeled in as fast as to can reel it and they will smoke it. Other days I throw it out in the cover and slow reel it dragged the bottom back to the boat. I like a zoom craw when the water is more stained or I’m dragging it. I use the fluke more for cleaner water or fast moving. Wind, and water color make a huge difference! You will see that. But a white paddle tail fluke or dipper work great most days. I have a swim jig tied on 100% of the time.

I appreciate all the replies everyone, that helps narrow my focus down. Now I just need to get some confidence with a swim jig, but that only takes a few hungry fish to do that lol.

I have good luck with the Rage Craws turned so the claws are vertical. Makes it look like a bream tail when swimming

It’s an awesome bait! When you feel the bass bite it., don’t set the hook! Just keep reeling until the rod starts to load. Then set it. If you don’t you will miss every fish.. my experience. Lol
