New boat owner here and I recently hooked up my Garmin on my own. I just installed it the way I thought would work for me. Now I’m on this forum asking for advice after the fact because it keeps shutting off when I increase the motor RPMs. There’s not set level that unit shuts off but it’s usually once I get the boat above 3K RPM. The weird thing is I can then turn it back on. It may stay on or it may go turn off again. When the motor is below 3K RPM it has never shut off. Also the problem didn’t always exist. I operated the boat for a few months without this issue occurring.

When I installed the unit I hooked it up to an accessory switch on my panel that is powered by the starting battery. I suspect the power is dropping below 12v when I get the motor going. Should I rewire to power off my trolling motor battery which is a 24v system? If so how do I wire it so it only receives 12v? Thanks in advance for any tips or advice.

For those that may experience the same issue I found this on Amazon. Going to give it a try.
