Might look into the wireless kill switches, if you donโt like having a lanyard attached to yourself. I have one by fell marine and love it.

That is something that I automatically do is put on my life jacket and hook up the kill switch. Been doing that since my first boat way back when. It's a very simple habit to get into. I always thought Texas boating laws were really poor when they did not require the operator to hook up to one.
