I would appreciate it, if I could get a few baits ideas, for cold January bass fishing.

Stay home. Bass fishing sucks for the next 6 weeks.
Despite what all of the "pros" say...it's suckfest.
BUT if you must go, jerkbait, jig, finesse baits...worked as slow as you can possibly stand it is probably a good place to start.

Or wait for a 3-4 day warming trend and throw reaction baits in staging areas. Your chances of finding a 3-4 day warming trend increase the farther south you go.

what colors would you all consider with jerkbaits, chatter and plastics? I know the rayburn red is good around here for a good while. I'm also wonderig what you target this time of year as far as water goes? Certain depths, or main lake points, creek chanels? I'm a total failure this time of year haha

South facing rock or concrete near deeper water. If there’s timber and vegetation in that area, even better. Bluff rocky walls, bridge rip rap, bridge pilings. If there’s been warm, sunny weather for a few days, you might get lucky and intersect them moving very shallow onto a grass flat to feed heavily.

Right now, the jerk bait is my go to bait. Fished it on riprap in 10-15 FOW with deeper water nearby. Water temp. was 48-50 degrees, had a dozen fish in the 2-3 pound class and a couple of nice kickers late in the day. Good luck and don’t be deterred by the cold air and water temps. February is right around the corner. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/01/full-37032-79747-00d37723_5966_4296_a7f7_baae68dc512b.jpeg)

I have that exact same jerkbait and have never put a bass on it. i must be fishing it incorrectly. how about a quick lesson?
I didn't lose him at the boat. I shook him off cause I didn't want my hands to get "fishy"
