On a serious note, did they ever find out what killed the man in Lipan?

I can't find any information on a conclusion.

The Sheriff's Department was standing pat on it being a lion. All officials who deal with wildlife are saying no way it was a lion. M.E. says it was a "wild animal".

My guess is toxicology will show a drug OD situation and likely the body was scavenged by yotes and/or hogs.

OR... A Bigfoot got him.

I'm not entirely convinced there is truth here but I am totally convinced this person will have yet another encounter. It's like the Alien abductions, they seem to always come back for the same people.

This is totally plausible. Bigfoot is trying to take out the witnesses. This unlucky guy in Lipan had probably seen him before!

Wait was the deceased man named Ricardo by chance?

He goes public and 5 weeks later is found deceased. Killed by a "mountain lion". You know in a place where mountain lions are seldom if ever found. And of course mountain lions have only ever killed adult males about five times ever in the history of the United States and never in Texas has anyone been killed by a lion...

But yeah, not a Squatch, mountain lion.
