Thought about Martin Creek as it’s not that far away and left them biting the other day. I’m into the deep cranking and after a big one so Murvaul it was. Shad on my graph everywhere near the bridge. Three crappie boats and three bass boats already there when I arrive. Not much going on but no wind and light mist and fog, water temp 54 degrees. Must have been two hours before I finally got bit. Slow rolling a 6xd in 12 feet of water along channel edge near where I caught a 10 lb bass last year. Fish slams bait and with my bad left elbow I don’t get much hook set and I’m just trying to hold on. It was a big fish, never saw it but I felt it. Pulling drag and staying deep. I’m reeling kayak towards fish when I feel my line scraping wood, Loosen drag as I’m tight against stump. I give line out hoping fish comes out but it’s already gone. Use plug knocker to get bait back, cut and retie.. Spend another hour and not a bite. Make two mile paddle to far west end looking for grass. It’s pretty much all gone. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/12/full-76913-79073-fdf4512a_74ae_4400_b384_24b8feb38ea0.jpeg) Catch a small one on spinnerbait and miss one. Paddle as far up creek as I can go as beaver dam was end of road. Found water that was 61 degrees but no bites. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/12/full-76913-79074-e59685c8_c7e9_47cb_b2bb_3b3e28e51315.jpeg) Find two duck decoys..so it wasn’t a total loss. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/12/full-76913-79075-48c331bc_01fb_484d_a1d6_e4e3fc90078f.jpeg) Make the paddle back checking out some areas I haven’t fished in years. Nothing. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/12/full-76913-79076-bd8ccb3f_7967_4283_a606_8c0fbc6e3bb2.jpeg) Make it back to bridge and fish until almost 5:00. Finally catch one and head back in. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/12/full-76913-79077-659ac432_ecdd_4630_a12e_d68b8270de99.jpeg) Back at it tomorrow somewhere.

LConn, this cheap elbow brace helps a lot with my elbow pain (I have bone on bone radiohumeral arthritis) Another thing that helps is keeping my elbow against my side when I set the hook. I know that’s not practical all the time especially when in an odd position or weird angle. Pharmacy section in Walmart I have also tried the simple elbow sleeves and forearm bands, but the Mueller brace with the Velcro straps above and below the elbow joint works much better.

Nice report man! I have been deep cranking more this year than I ever have and caught a few. I did have one "Freight Train" on for a minute or so pulling the Ranger around so the it wasn't the "Thrill of Victory" but more "The Agony of Defeat" moment!

I did have one "Freight Train" on for a minute or so pulling the Ranger around so the it wasn't the "Thrill of Victory" but more "The Agony of Defeat" moment! The one I lost pulled the rod straight away... rod tip pointing at fish. I had to pull rod back to reach reel handle. I felt like a dork. Love your pictures of the lakes and your reports are always great to read! Thank you sir! Glad you like them.. I enjoy the picture taking!
