I want to copy all of the music CD's over to a digital external drive. Does anyone have experience and/or suggestions of what products to use?
It would be nice for "said external drive" to have Bluetooth so I can play music off of speakers around the house, like Alexa.
Thanks!

Sgt: Are you wanting to copy them as .wma or .mp3 ?
What do you intend on playing the content on?

I run windows so probably .wma.
I current intent is to have the music on an external device that I can use with my computer to play music. I believe I can play music on my computer through my Alexa stuff around the house.
So need ideas on: external device and software? to burn the music. Also need software in which I can play the music.
Then suggestions on anything else

You could copy them to a jump drive and plug it directly into your computer to play them.
I bought some that were 32GB (will hold about 200 songs) but you can get them with even higher capacity.

I think that is my thought, but bigger capacity. I probably have a few hundred CD's that just take up space (not much as they are in a binder) however it would be nice to have a library to listen to some of it.

Years ago I ripped all of my CD to MP3 and currently have over 26,700 MP3 that total 141 gigabytes. I choose the MP3 format so that I could play the files on more devices. There many different ways to "RIP" your CD tracks to MP3. I also use MP3TAG software to edit the MP3 metadata. I would get 2 devices; one for daily use and the other for back up. Here is a flash drive that should work: Samsung 256GB USB 3.1 Flash Drive

I’m in the same boat I have over 400+ cds and since these new trucks don’t have CD players in them I need something to listen to them in. Maybe since they have USB ports it’s something you can stream through your truck!

I converted a ton of albums to mp3 many years ago using a usb turntable.
I have also converted many cd's to mp3 and have multiple flash drive that plug into my car, or computer, tablet, ect
I have flash drives with just comedy, others with all realms of music.
I use JetAudio which you can find at majorgeeks.com in the multimedia section

You need software to rip your CD's and software to manage the files afterwards. You can do both of those with a software like MusicBee or iTunes. I like MusicBee better personally because it's not Apple and it has a very helpful forum where they have plenty of guides and help from other users. Once you've got them all ripped you can make playlists in the software and export the playlist to a flash drive or your phone so you can play them in your car. You can also connect your phone to a Bluetooth speaker to use around your house. Disclaimer - If you're a real audiophile then you probably don't want to use MusicBee or iTunes to rip. The best software for ripping is Exact Audio Copy because it compares your rip bit by bit to an online database to make sure it's being copied with no errors. I used EAC to rip my 600+ CD's to FLAC, which is a lossless format. I then use MusicBee to manage the files. Hope that helps and good luck.

I copied all of mine to a 1TB hard drive and then transfer them to jump drives to carry. That way if you lose the jump drive or it gets corrupted you still have all of them copied to the hard drive.
