Got out on Whitney yesterday for some much needed boat time. Scouting some areas that would be protected from different wind directions. Got on the lake just as the sun was coming up. The wind chill was pretty cold but when I was idling around it was ok. Only used jigs and didn't wet a hook till about 10 am. Fished water 30 to 40 foot deep along an around the main river channel. I was reading water temp in the mid to lower 50's. Fish I caught were on timber from 20 to 30 feet down. Caught several and brought home 9 of the biggest ones.
Looks good sir! Excited to see that one on the schedule this year. Plan to make it if we’re in town. What would you say a good summertime 7 fish stringer is on that lake?
I haven't been as lucky in the summer as far as big fish. The last few trips I've made I probly averaged 1.5 per fish with very few through backs. Lately the numbers haven't been there for me but the quality has been better than usual. Brent and I have been talking about joining CAT and fishing some of the tournaments. We will probly see you at some of them!
Our slip @ Harbor master id loaded with stripers and black bass , and very little crappie . Been that way all year . Been a strange year on Whitney for sure . Our neighbors at Juniper Cove has a slip there and it is the same .
May your wiener schnitzel always stay above your lederhosein.
