Is this a Mongolia. Or blacknose crappie that I caught today on lake wright patman .? I thought they were the same. (Magnolia and Blacknose) Yep I always thought they were one in the same. This is from crappiecrazy.com: Magnolia crappie This Crappie is a cross between the female white Crappie and the male blackstriped (blacknosed) black Crappie. ... The blackstriped Crappie has a dark stripe from the dorsal fin down the top of the head and mouth to the throat. This is a naturally occurring color variation. I don’t know if TPWD Fisheries have every bred any crappie cross strains. It’s more than likely, a black nose, naturally occurring. There are quite a few in Bardwell and crappie have never been stocked there.
