Worked on the family ranch and occasionally got paid until we sold the ranch and moved to town. Had picked up some electrical knowledge along the way so at 16 I got my Apprentice Electricians license and at 17 I got my Journeyman. This was the 70's and the only requirement was to have a Master sign off on you. Did that until I went to college. Spent summers working for a pipeline company and when I graduated I went into IT.

Hoeing the weeds at several watermelon patches in Hempstead for the local feed store. Dishwasher at a steakhouse was my second job, circa mid 70's.

My first job was cutting grass/yards in the neighborhood, then it expanded as my Dad helped by reaching more customers as I got older.
I started around 12 or 13 I believe.

First job as a kid - Clearing and burning brush on my uncle's new property in Alabama. Every.Single.Day... cutting trees, dragging limbs, and burning them. Uncle would run the chainsaw and I would drag everything to the burn piles. We had at least two piles burning at all times. I still think that was the hardest summer of my life, but it was well worth it. My favorite part of it all was picking a handful of blackberries off the vine whenever I ran across them and hiding in the trees to take a break just long enough to eat them.
First real job - Taco Bell. Eff working in fast food. Lasted 2 weeks and then hit the road as a welder's helper.

Over the road moving van in 18wheeler in summer of '72 with my step-dad. Drove from Tulsa to Colo Springs. Moved a family into trailer and located them to Lawrence Massachusetts. Then, loaded up Honeywell equipment and brought back to Tulsa, all in two week's time. Made enough on that trip to buy me a Penton Six Day Trials 125 when I was 12.

Paper route, MCDN, Mid-Cities Daily News in the mid-70's.
Throwing was easy, but did not enjoy the collections.

Doctoring screwworm cases on Uncles ranches. Included in that was drenching sheep with Phenothyzine which took skin off of your exposed body parts. And busting rocks with a crowbar while digging postholes for fences. Summer of work in 1962 earned me 5 dogie lambs. Didnt take long to realize I wasnt cut out for that line of work lol.
