I pulled a stupid stunt today I’m hoping someone can provide some insight on. I was in a rush to put my HDS Live 12 back on the mount from precision sonar. I ended up cross threading the screw for the E lock on one side. The screw is now stuck in the unit and I have cracked the back of the case trying to get it out. Needless to say there is no way to get it mounted on that one side now.

Does anyone know if Lowrance can fix this? Or is there a repair shop that can fix it? Can they replace the casing on the back of the unit? I’ve searched the entire internet and it appears I might be the first yahoo to pull this stunt. I’ve never had to send one in so I have no idea what to expect or if they would even touch it.

I will be calling Lowrance tomorrow but I can’t seem to stop thinking about it tonight. So I thought I would post here and see if anyone ran into this boneheaded scenario before. 2020 just keeps on giving!

Ouch, be prepared for bad news, they typically don’t cover owner mishaps.

picture of it?

I have used vice grips clamped to screw heads as a handle, you get a ton of leverage that way. if you spun the insert then it will have to go to mfr for a new case, you won't ever get it to hold solid again, been there, done that.

You nailed it hopalong...I spun the insert. I’m ok paying for this stupid mistake. Just wondering if a new case is going to cost near what the unit costs new. I’ll call them today and see what the options are.
