Working on a list of lakes for our holiday trip this year. Got the normal Welsh, Martins Creek maybe Brandy Branch but since we are going to be down 6 days this year going to explore some others. Bob Sandlin either Fork or Athens and thinking about Caddo always wanted to fish and look at it but never had the time. Would it be better up in the river part around the State Park or down around the lake section thinking of putting in at Shady Glade.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Texoma can be a really good cold water lake this time of year. never fished Athens or Caddo, yet. ive done well on size at Fork but very few bites this time of year. welsh during a weekday or on Christmas day would be a good trip.

Nice fish iconn4...yea we have had some good trips there the last couple years. Senko9S yes we are there all week between Christmas and New Years and yea Welsh is always on a week day. That little lake gets hammered. Reminds me of Monti back in the 90's first few times I went there after watching Jerry Dean fish it on Honey Hole get in line with everybody else. But is fun and a break from the normal lakes up here.

Exactly. Guess it depends on if you are looking for size, quantity or just scenery/new lake. Caddo has always been on the bucket list for me so that might be a good choice. One of the only natural lakes in Texas. There's a few here that know it well so hope they chime in. Good luck and have fun wherever you go. If focused on ETX might wanna consider some smaller lakes like winnsboro or mill creek. Just a thought.
