So what are your thoughts on gas golf carts ?
We have an RV at one of the parks on Lake Fork. I have 36 bolt golf cart for just putting around the park. I’m getting tired of dealing with charging the batteries and replacing 6 batteries every several years. I’m thinking about a UTV / side by side or a gas golf cart. The UTV can get a little pricey, even the used ones, especially to set around the RV park. Was thinking about a gas golf cart. So what are y’all’s thoughts or experience with them?

I’ve had one for about 5 years. I’d rather have gas than electric. Pretty low maintenance. I change the oil once a year.
With that said, I’ve got water in the fuel twice and had to have the tank drained, fuel system flushed & serviced. Also, a tuneup. I’ve always used a gas treatment and started using non-ethanol gas the last fill up. Hopefully, that fixes the water in the fuel problem.
I use mine as a sporting clays cart. I’ll go to multi day shoots where I could not charge the batteries so a gas cart is my only choice.
Mine is an EZGO and has a carburetor. If I had to do it over or if I ever buy another, I’ll buy Yamaha which has a fuel injected engine.

I have a Gator and an electric golf cart. They both have their uses - Gator for work and golf cart for cruising around. I've been considering switching to lithium on the golf cart. Changing batteries every 3-4 years is not that big a deal to me. I found a guy who comes to your house and changes them for you and he is basically the same price as a new set of batteries purchased retail. The lithium will more than double your range, they last a lot longer and no maintenance, so that might be an option for you.
If it were me in your situation, I would stick to electric. Charge it at night and you are good for the next few days. No gas to deal with.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Thanks for the input. So on the gas golf carts, do they run constantly like a UTV or four wheeler, or do they start when you push the gas and die when you let off. I have seen some that did that and wasn’t really a fan.

Is there a way to override that where it runs until you turn the key off

That's the main reason I wouldn't buy a Subaru when I was looking at new cars. I like the CrossTrek, but I don't like having to go in to the system and turning that feature off every time you start the car. I had 2 rental cars with that and it drove me nuts. Fortunately, the Sonata I purchased doesn't do that junk and I still get great gas mileage.

I live in a 9000 home , 3 golf course retirement community. We drive our carts on the street. I drive a 8 yr old Ez go electric I bought new. Lot of folks here have gone to Yamaha gas because of range and battery maintenance. Lithium ion carts started showing up 2 years ago. People that have them have nothing but good to say about them. Big price difference. Yamaha gas is around 7k. Ez go lithium 9-10k. Curtains, custom seats and accessories adds 3k. I will probably purchase an Ez go lithium next year.

Is there a way to override that where it runs until you turn the key off probably just a relay that has to be disabled, no idea for sure but my best guess.

Runs forever on a tank of gas.. Great machine.. There is a U-Tube video out there on disabling the stop engine function.. I haven't done it as it does not bother me any..Need to be stopped to change direction anyway..
