This tail was supposed to be purple ..... But I evidently didn't mix my dye correctly. Came out kinda medium blue / coral / turquoise .......
Might be good if the bass are chasing shad?

Thoughts ?

I’ve seen shad with that kind of blue in them
Definitely seen blueback herring exactly that color on the back.

Playing around with a few more colors. I've caught fish on all of these in the past.

Very nice ! I like the foot ball heads. I use fine dog fur attached to ball head jigs and to well.
Do you fish those with trailers? If so, what types?

I have been a fan of a #11 pork chunk (Josh) for years, but they are no longer in production. I have gone to ZOOM plastic frog chunks instead. You can use most anything. A smaller 3" or so crawfish works well. Some folks have used 4" grubs also.

Do you mean #11 pork frog by Uncle Josh? Once U.J. stopped production I figured I'd make a mold of the #11 and #1.

They work just as good, though I've never used them with hair jigs - only silicone skirted jigs for bass. I also made molds for different frog trailers including Zoom:

Those look great.

I've been fishing plastic chunks ever since Josh stopped manufacturing, but it just doesn't fish the same for me. Fall rate is a bit different and I don't think the fish hold it as well.

But we gotta do with what we have.

Thanks H J

I have found that if I use a sinking plastic from M-F Mfg. and add a bit of salt, they perform the same as pork - same for my Senko imitations.

Gotta say, the jig hair colors are exactly those I would be confident using. Excellent professional tie jobs and much better than my own.

(...but then again, fish much of the time miss the details and strike anyway....

Downsize that and you'll catch the fire out of the white bass when they start their spring runs.

Why? Those in that picture are 1/8 ounce baits.
