Myself and fishing buddy Jeff fished a few crappie spots yesterday morning. Fished from 7am till 11am. The bite started out slow but picked up just after 10am. Would have stayed on em but Jeff had to be off the water by 11am. Caught a total of 15 crappie and seven Bluegill. Gulp Alive Leaches on a drip shot were used on the Bluegill and Jigs, Chartreuse/Red on the crappie. Fish were close to brush piles in 16 to 20 feet of water. We also found a bunch on a hump in 20 feet of water but could not get them bite. All fish were released. It was great getting out on the water and feeling the thump! woot

Side Note: Heading to a trout stocking. bolt

Nice report Curtis...I hit your river today from 10 to around 1:30. Did a lot of hunting and a little fishing. Water temp was 56 degrees...man, that is cold ! Did not get a single bite...tried Gulp Alive minnows & crappie jigs...mostly black & chartreuse. Expected to see way more under water structure ? Did find quite a few deep stumps & some pretty bare lay downs, but that's about it. Also wanted to test out the new prop on the trolling motor b4 driving 2 hours & finding out it was the wrong one...worked great. Can't wait to get back on my home lake next week ! bolt

Glad your prop worked out well on your boat Steve. I did not make to Fayette this week either. I was all hooked up and ready to go yesterday (Friday) but Thursday night I ended up with something either in my eye or I scratched it and it got infected. Felt like someone stuck a hot needle in it. So off to the ER the wife and I went Thursday evening about 9 pm. Got it under control now so I will be good to go next week. I might head there Monday but more than likely Tuesday.

Did you fish the pillars? Also did you fish some of the docks by deeper water? 16/20 feet. hmmm

Curtis...I did fish the pillars...all of them, including the ones by the launch area. I did not fish any docks...there can't be too many docks in that deep of water, so I will look for them next trip. I mainly cruised around looking for brush piles in deep (20+ ft) water with no success. I did see TONS of bait fish all over. I guess it was shad & they were holding pretty close to the bottom. Tried going up river & see that they now have it as a "restricted" keep out area (by court order the sign says) ? This is by the Tiki Hut area and above. Did not think it was legal to restrict access to public waterways ? I assume you normally fish "down river", so you may not have even seen all the signs. Anyway, thanks for all the advice...it is much appreciated...

That restricted bs is one of my disagreements with Texas Property rights. I dont have a problem with them restricting access but I have a problem if they restrict access and claim a wildlife exemption for reducing their property taxes. But it is what it is.

When i was in Ohio and fishing Lake Erie, a property owner who had more money than dirt put in a breaker wall and personal Marina for his 50 ft or so boat. My brother and I went inside the breaker wall and was fishing. The man and his security guard came down and ordered us out. We called the Ohio Game Wardens. We waited until they got there. So did the owner of the property. He, his wife, and security guard all got tickets for harassing us. Made our day. But that's Ohio and not Texas.
