Headed down to Ft. Gibson to spend some time with my wives family. Looking to see if anyone has any information on a power plant lake close to that area. Google search is not pulling up anything closer than 2.5-3 hours away, and it doesn’t pull up much. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There isn't a power plant lake anywhere close to Gibson. Sooner which is just South of Ponca City is the only one still generating that I know of.

However Tenkiller has been fishing really well, or at least it was before this past week with all this cold weather. 30-40 Smallmouth a day was pretty common, taking 17-20lbs to win the Saturday jackpot.

There's Swepco in Gentry, Arkansas. 1 1/2 hour from the town of Ft. Gibson. It's a decent hot water lake.

Sounds like I’m doing some research on Tenkiller. Thanks for the feedback.

How's Sooner fishing nowadays? Man I miss that lake. I haven't fished it in prolly 25 years. Back then it was bad to the bone!

Go to Tenkiller.

Okie Sooner still cranks out big bags but since word got out a few years ago and the fishing pressure went up it isn't as consistent as it used to be.

Unless you're just interested in chasing smallmouth, you might as well fish Ft. Gibson rather than make the drive to Tenkiller. There are a couple of very good creeks you can get out of the wind and weather and have a shot at some really good days right now. Whichever you choose, pm me and I'll give you some decent places to start.

I want to get back to tenkiller for a couple of days real soon.

worked on sixshooter dock when I was a kid, 12-15 yo, love that lake.

I would go up the river a little way on gibson, hit the laydowns and sandbars to start.

Would highly advice against going up the river on Gibson unless you know what you are doing. Getting thru that stump filled, lay down infested flat can be tricky. Plus with water temps in the mid to upper 40’s most fish have made their way to their winter time home.

Andy sent you a PM
