I do not know all the details.

I don't know if a Life Jacket was worn and if it was did the water temperature and hypothermia get him?

Was the kill switch worn?

Did he have a heart attack? Something else medical?

Was he taking a restroom break and fell out?

Did he hit an underwater stump?

Obviously many scenarios running through my head.

Please use this as a reminder to always try to go out on the water with another individual if possible especially this time of year.

There is just so many things that could go wrong going solo.

Condolences to the family and to the University Park PD.

A terrible tragedy.

Terrible to hear about this. What I heard sounds like his boat maybe drifted off the dock and he tried to swim to catch it. Prayers out to the family.

Wear a stinkin life jacket! Especially in the winter.

So sad, and in most cases so needless. How many times have we all took a chance and nothing bad happens...until it does ?

That's what I heard too. Supposedly they found his phone and wallet left behind. If that's what happened, that would be sad that he made the decision to try that. I don't care how strong of a swimmer you are, that cold water will sap it out of you and start shutting your body down faster than you think. RIP

I was present Thursday morning when they recovered his body at the west boat ramp at 2 Mile Bridge. After they opened the ramp up for us to launch we spoke with the game wardens that helped with the recovery and they said he was going duck hunting and his boat drifted from the dock and he got in the water to retrieve it and went into shock from the water temperature and drowned. He went missing Wednesday morning but they didn’t find him until Thursday.By the time they found his boat it had drifted 5 miles down the lake and was over by the old Holiday Marina location by the dam. They recovered his body right out in front of the west ramp near the edge of the bridge.Very sad scene. He was a sergeant with the University Park Police Department and some of his family and fellow officers were on scene when he was recovered.Sending my prayers and condolences to his family and his law enforcement family ðŸ™ðŸ½ðŸ™ðŸ½ðŸ™ðŸ½
