Years ago, I owned a house in the Shores CC in Rockwall. My neighbor and his wife always had the coolest cars and toys and vacationed at all the cool destinations. We were at a gathering and I learned he was the comptroller of Church on the Rock. It was a business, not what I considered a church. Taxing churches and their assets is long overdue, IMO. Did you NOT read my opening post? Our church has been around since ‘53 and struggling to pay its bills even with all the tithings it receives, you think taxing will be necessary because of a few wolves in sheep’s clothing? I agree with HasBen. Our local largest church for years has dropped the Baptist name. They did this a few years ago to compete with the non denominational Churches. Turn out had been good. It's 100% a business.

Those saying tax the churches are way out of bounds. Our little Baptist church pre-COVID ran 130-160 for the main service. After COVID and the shutdown for 6 weeks or so we run a max of 88 (September) but after we had an outbreak in the choir and some of the other members it got shut down 2 weeks and then reopened and the max has been 44. Giving is way down too.
Also had out first death on Saturday, the song leader's wife died on a ventilator on Saturday, funeral today.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

The tv televangelists are stealing from the widows, the poor, the hopeless and the desperate . Their is a special place in hell for them, just as there will be for the pastors of the megachurches who want you to give to them so that they can have bigger churches, more programs and more fame. Jesus didn't even have a donkey to ride on, much less a private plane, a Mercedes. etc. He had "no place to lie His head", unlike the pastors of today's churches who own huge mansions. Jesus did ride into Jerusalem 5 days before passover. You might wanna read some scripture bud. You need to read what I wrote because I didn't say that He had never ridden on a donkey, What the intent obviously was was that He didn't own a donkey. The one He rode into Jerusalem on was loaned to Him for the ride, He didn't own it. I know the bible much better than you do, boy.
