Oh check that your cables on the top of the motor haven’t gotten wrapped up in the tension knob or that you have raised the motor too high and the cables are binding when it spins. It’s easy to over look and I have had them get caught behind that knob.

Guys, just how DOES a spotlock/gps trolling motor work? I understand the basics of it, varying prop speed and diraction to coincide with coordinates, but I've seen guys on tv with the wind at their back and instead of the wind spinning the aft of the boat around like normal the bow stays in position. Similarly I watched one guy fishing with the wind coming at his boat broadside, but the boat never moved. How is that possible using only one motor? Is there a secondary motor on the back that I didn't see?
I didn't lose him at the boat. I shook him off cause I didn't want my hands to get "fishy"

When the wind changes directions the boat will move as well. Now the only way this would not be the case is if the wind and the current happened to be in perfect harmony and then you might have what you saw on TV.

While I'm here I'd like to know from you kind Ultrex owners if your machine is quiet as it steers on Spot Lock? My Ultrex is a 2016 or 17 model and it is just noisy as it turns to steer. I was with a guide recently with a 2020 version and his motor was very quiet when it steered.
And also the steering throws out a lot of radio frequency interference that affects my Mega 360 screen. Anybody else have this problem?

I have to use A much lower sensitivity setting and an even numbered Noise Filter. I am going to start looking at grounds and fuses in the TM to get it cleaned up over the next week or so because I just got my bow Helix back from the factory for a bad board. Update #1 - The Ultrex Head Unit Fuse is good. On to the next... My Plan - I am going to disconnect the Charger lead to the Battery, No - I didn't install the isolator that came with one of my Helix units - if removing the Charger lead fixes it, that puppy gets installed and we re-test.

I have a 2020 model and it's very noisy as well and does interfere with my bow Lowrance, I put a pad under my transducer and it helped a lot, got rid of a lot of the interference.

I guess i'm just lucky. I'm running Ultrex with Helix 12, Panoptics, and Mega 360 on bow with no interference. Slade D. set everything up and told me not to touch any buttons.

Per the recommendation of Wayne P on the Equipment Board I ran a ground, isolated the circuits and separated the transducer cables from the Ultrex power cable. I drilled a new hole in an out of sight location on the bow cap and ran transducer wires through there. I then wrapped the transducer cables through 77 ferrite Toroid rings. It solved my down imaging interference and greatly improved on the Mega 360 side. I had no problems from the charger. My remaining interference is 100% caused by the steering. But it is not overwhelming. Wayne suggested a rebuild of the motor. And he said perhaps soon Minn Kota will go brushless. It is frustrating to spend that money and get interference.

How do you get Panoptix and Mega 360 on the bow? I've heard about Ram mounts that put a Live Scan transducer on a stick that deploys over the side. I'd like to see fish swimming around. But I can see them pretty well with the Mega 360/Helix DI also.
Sorry, this is turning from an Ultrex to a fish finder thread.

To clarify and further confuse...
I have ZERO interference on DI and 2D from the transducer directly connected to the TM head. I can fully eliminate steering interference with the noise filter. I am down to the pinwheel effect when operating the TM prop when I have my 360 Sensitivity setting above the "0" midpoint.
