Here are some more old girls brought to life. Most of these all got new TMs and electronics.
I have another coming up that is a real show stopper.
Stay tuned.

As long as you avoided rough water, some of those old bath tub boats fished mighty comfortably. I remember spending many days in an old (new at the time) Terry bass boat with a Kiekhaefer Mercury 20 hp tiller motor. Next was a Sidewinder with 35 Mercury stick steer, followed by a Chrysler Bass Runner with a 70 hp Chrysler. stick steer.

Here is a Skeeter that the cust. wanted. He did not want a motor, just new TM and DF. The interior was sprayed in bed liner by Line X. [Linked Image]

Here is the current project. 1973 Skeeter Hawk. Every one of these I get my wife wants to keep. But I end up selling them. Most of these boats go on private lakes that have hp. limits. If I keep this one I will install the Johnson 85 that was on it after I go through it. It had a console. It will have stick steering, power drive TM with remote, Lowrance DF. The plan right now is to have it sprayed with line X, complete interior and over the gunnels to the rub rail. I want to get it completed before the Skeeter Owners Tour. so I can fish it.

Micheal,
I bought an old 1973 StarCraft 16 foot stick steer off of craigslist last year and am just about done with it. I had to replace the front half of the floor and foam the entire floor. I rolled the floor with kiwi grip and painted the top cap white. The engine needed carbs rebuilt, new water pump, and plugs. The lower unit had milky fluid with some metal on the drain plug magnet so I will probably put a different motor on it. The trailer has new wiring, bunks, rollers, and and walk boards. I just coated it with navel jelly last week so I could paint it this week. It does not look nearly as nice as your work but I always wanted an old stick steer and have enjoyed working on it. Attached are some pictures I took today.

Looks Good.
It is a shame so many of these old girls are left out in pastures and such. They they were the cream of the crop in their day.
Many of todays fishermen came up fishing out of one of these.
I enjoy breathing new life in these boats.

Michael, you're doing good by bringing those old boats back to life. In their day those 16' Skeeter Hawks were at the top of the bass boat world. About that same time Ranger and Bass Cat were just getting started.
Thought you might find this 1971 Skeeter catalog interesting.

In '71 my dad bought a Metro with an 85 hp Chrysler outboard like the one in the picture. On a windy April day in '72 when Amistad was new and we took that stick steering boat from Diablo East ramp for 20+ miles up the river. That trip and some rough rides on Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn during '72 led him to get one of the first Bass Cat tournament boats around DFW. Bass Cat Founder Ron Pierce delivered the boat to Dallas personally.

Those stick steering boats are fun to fish out of. Don't have to stand up and walk around to change locations and they are well suited for smaller waters and wind protected areas on the bigger lakes. During the last six months of staying close to home I have worked to restore an old Starcraft aluminum boat. To not hijack your thread I will start a new one with some pics of my project boat.

I don't mind you jumping in. These old boats have long been shoved to the side. I look forward to seeing old boats back to life. Maybe we can start a revolution cheers

Man, those pics bring back some really great memories. I started bass fishing with a friend that had a 73 Skeeter Hawk 16" with 65 Mercury. Caught a lot of fish from that boat, even if I was front ended all the time. My best friend had a Kingfisher just like the one you showed, even the color.
