I own a '96 Procraft with a 24V trolling motor w/ stock wiring. I now have room for a third battery and would like to upgrade to a 36V.
Will the current stock wiring support a 36V trolling motor?

all i had to do was change my plug from 24v to 36v and add a battery. My boat was a 99 cobra.

Depends on the awg and length of the current wire. And how much amperage the new trolling motor will pull.

Just google 36v set up for a trolling motor it's really simple and easy to modify

If the oem wire is 6awg or bigger the oem wire will be fine. You will just need to add the new battery in series, and make sure you have the appropriate sized circuit breaker and plug. If the oem wire is 8awg or smaller you should definitely replace it with at least 6awg.

Yes. Amperage will go down slightly as the voltage goes up. Ohms law.

Was it a 12/24 setup with 4 wires going forward previously? If so just just combine two of them for pos and two for neg for your 36v

It is a 12/24 set-up with 4 wires. I'll be sure to add another 50 amp short stop breaker for the 3rd battery.

I've had this boat awhile and I started off with the 12/24 45lb motor guide and upgraded to a 24v 80lb minn kota in 2009 and she's probably due for a rebuild after many hours. Loved the power of the 80, but for being as short as the boat is, it is heavy.
It's a Brunswick Procraft and when the wind picks up I want to put it on a 100 and be able to hold me on the tree.
Looking towards the future I'd like the boat to be ready for a MK Ultrex when the price comes down in 10 years. lol
