Looking for some general information for a first timer wanting to fish these famous Mexico lakes. Thinking about booking a trip with anglers inn. What’s generally the best times to go? Do y’all take your own rods and reels or are they provided for you? For those that have booked with anglers inn, was your experience good?

I always go to a Ron Speed lodge and have always been pleased. My favorite time is mid February They have very good rods, so I only take reels and tackle. NO hooks allowed in carry on ! A good starter trip would be El Salto and Picachos Fly direct to and from Mazatlan, about $600 RT.

Hey Ryan: My trips aren't for everyone. We drive in and are gone for 11 days. We do get in 6 days of fishing for less money than a fly in 3 day trip. I have room for two fisherman and another rig to follow me to Lake Oviachic in Jan. and March. We all share expenses and I do not charge any fees. I have been doing this for 35 years with no problems. Send me an Email if interested. fishnteacher@gmail.com

Go to one of the lodges like those mentioned. Fly in to Mazatlan, lodge picks you up. Carry on your reels, use their rods. Check your tackle like hooks. El Salto more for size, Picachos for quantity. My two cents.

Ryan, Here's a guide that my wife have compiled about the Anglers Inn experience in particular, and El Salto/Picachos in general. Happy to answer any questions here or in a private message. Hope you make the right choice for YOU. Lots of great options out there. Pete Robbins Ultimate Guide to El Salto and Picachos

Just pm me or comment on here I just got back last week and Baccarac is still the pick of the lakes if you ask me. They all shine in one way or another but Baccarac will just ruin you. Angler's Inn is top notch on Salto but as someone mentioned Ron Speed's is probably the most popular on most of the lakes. The place to stay on Baccarac is https://www.lakebaccaraclodge.com/ and you can book a flight through them also if you like to roll first class. Mexico bass fishing is a bucket list item if you can swing it. JB

I've been to Anglers Inn over 10 times and Its outstanding service brings me back again and again!! The fishing is really good too. Speeds was good too but it not Anglers Inn for service and food. Plus I didn't like arriving to the lake and not fishing the first half day and on the last day you're rushing drive back to Mazatlan to stay at a hotel overnight for your flight home the next day...

Just returned from 4 days fishing at Baccarac with Pro Bass Adventures/Doug King. Fishing was AWESOME! Partner and I boated over 200 fish. Biggest fish 8-15 oz. (no double digits this trip). Fish had big heads but skinny bodies, maybe spawned out (?). Numerous fish in the 5-7 lb. range. Most fish caught slow rolling underspins with white Keitechs or swing jigs with 7" senko's. No topwater action. Bigger fish caught on LARGE cranks, 20-25' deep.
