For those of you that are not aware, Flat Stanley is a school project. You cut out and color Flat Stanley then get pictures of him on a trip. My granddaughter said Flat Stanley needed to visit Texas so we took him to some Texas historic properties, but of course while he was here he had to go fishing. He did pretty well and picked up 2 nice carp on a fly. One of them was a nice fat 31โ€ long 17 pounder. roflmao

Back about 10 years ago I worked for a defense contractor in Iraq and my nephew sent me one to take pictures. Got him with the troops on patrol in MRAP's. His was the hit with his class.

Nice fish and what looks like a fun project. I had never heard of a flat Stanley.

Back in the day my working buddies and I had a sock monkey that traveled with each of us on vacation. Pictures were taken with him from all over in some of the most unusual places.

Wow, I bet MRAP pictures were a hit. The best I could come up with were a few military vehicles at a car show. roflmao
And my daughter probably wonโ€™t be able to use the picture in school now.

I was fishing Whitney today. Every cove I went into had huge carp and buffs right up at the surface feeding and soaking up sun. Could have definitely caught them on a fly rod.

It's only a good cast if you catch a fish...

Flat Stanley brings back lots of memories, my kids took theirs all over the place, we mailed them off to family and friends and he took some wild rides. My wife was a 2nd grade teacher and had the kids send out Flat Stanley, for the most part they all loved it.

I have not caught any really big carp in Whitney, but I have caught lots of big buffalo there.

I have caught plenty of big carp, but it was sight fishing / force feeding so to speak....
