Mine does that occasionally. I suspect the cable tensioner screw under the pedal needs to be tightened, but it doesn't do it often enough for me to actually fix it lol.

Look under the foot pedal, make sure nothing is stopping it from full travel. If you scroll to electrical wiring and trolling motors you will get more help. Good luck

Make sure there are no obstructions near the foot pedal. I've had something as small as a drop shot weight get in there, and that'll kick your spot lock out when the pedal moves in that direction and contacts the object.

Yes. On mine the ribbon cable going to the momentary button on the foot pedal looked like it was crimp during install. Spot lock would just randomly shut off when pedal got in the “right” position. Put spot lock on and reach under pedal if you can while not putting pressure on it and see if it kicks off when you move that cable. We were able to figure it out with boat on the trailer. The entire foot pedal board had to be replaced as that cable is hard wired onto the board. Another thing to watch for is the on/off switch shorting and the pedal coming on after being switched off. All it takes is a vibration or tapping the foot pedal to make it come on. Can be an issue if you don’t have it on a main switch to cut power to motor and/or the troll motor is hardwired versus plug in. Thought I was loosing it and thinking I only thought I had turned it off.....
By the way mine didn’t kick off the first few weeks I had it and then started. Once it started it got worse every time out

If your ultrex is powering on by itself pop the on/off switch out and pull the wire connectors off the switch and clean them and plug them back onto switch. It's a loose or dirty connection to the switch. Ultrex switch opens to power up. Its backwards but that's how it works. That means a loose or bad connection on the switch will make it turn on. It's an easy fix.

Had mine in twice in eight months, seems to be killing the batteries and charger, this last time they replaced the switch which TBW said that they have been having problems with, now if I could just do something with the noise when it turns.

Id just get yours repaired, I had a few issues in 2017 and after a whole new motor upgrade under warranty mines been flawless since.
Fyi if you lose spot lock when you try and jog, that is because its lost blue tooth signal to the puck. It should beep a bunch of times warning you it has gone off spot lock.

Yes mine just turns to the rear of the boat and beep at the same time. Then I have to turn the foot forward and hit spot lock again. This my stay working for a while then maybe not , mine is a 2018 model. After buying mine their was a leak in my foot, brown waster was all over my carpet, brought it to my minnkota rep in my area after fixing it he said it was ok. I went back and told him what it was doing, he said bring it back where you bought it you did not buy it here . So much for a minnkota repair shop.

I havent ever bought from either of the service centers I have used.

The cupholder (or the edge of the TM Tray) may be your problem.... rubbing will stop it, mine did that when toe-down.

Just recalled if it’s the ribbon cable going to the momentary button, the button on the foot pedal will also quit working intermittently but everything else will work except spot lock getting kicked off. Meaning you can run the motor from the remote or constant on and it will steer fine. You may be at early stages of that cable shorting when pedal is in a certain position if the pedal has no interference or something else isn’t binding up and causing the motor to spin/steer freely.
