Is it time? Is it cold enough? What are some simple tips you are willing to share with the forum, and with me? Hoping we all have a great winter of catching lots of big fish!

If you choose to chime in, I want to thank you in advance!

Twok is my fav DS lake. It's been historically good (December to Feb.) except after the great flood of 2015. Last winter it got good again. The water temp now is in the good DS zone, in the 50s. Go thump or splasher in 45+ fow to see how the fish respond. Those who tried DS recently can chime in and let us know. Good luck

Is deadsticking good throughout the day or is it a morning and evening thing? Does it matter if you have clear skies or cloud cover?

I went out with Lakeguide a few years ago and he asked how many fish were showing on the depth finder. I said none. He said "Watch this." He started banging a dowel on the bottom of the boat and the fish began to appear on the screen. After ten minutes the screen was full of marks and fish were being caught continuously with dead stick flukes. The moral of this story is to make a thumping noise and the fish will come any time of day. If you are not thumping, then you get the bare screen. If you stop thumping, you get the bare screen. That wise demonstration of fishing skill has remained with me for all the years since.

Dead sticking on tawakoni is turning on. We went on Saturday a blue bird day after a cold front and managed to get 50 plus fish. The bite was real finicky but it's always that way after a strong cold front. Go deep and start thumping and in 5 or so minutes the fish will be under you. Look for birds or loons and bait. Fish are near by

I think I heard of Lakeguide. Except now you don't hear much thumps like a construction zone like the good ole days. Lol. I think he lost some weight so you may not recognize him now grin
