Ok, so I am thinking of heading to Corpus tomorrow, Monday and am curious how this front might affect the fishing. I do plan on bringing a kayak with me to use down there. Not sure what part I'd be staying in yet, but wondering as well if the fishing might be good where to try out. I am usually a freshwater fisherman and haven't had much luck in saltwater. Plan on being there through Thursday. Thanks!!!

I haven't been in a while but used to go down for the pompano run this time of year. Maybe someone else can update this.
Also check with Breakaway USA, Nick is always on the beach.

The Black Drum are also active in the bay systems and the sheepshead are biting well along the jetties. Was just down this past weekend was not expecting much with the cold front but was pleasantly surprised. In addition to drum and sheepshead caught about a half dozen just under reds and a mess of nursery trout in the 12 to 14 3/4 inch range.

So, as an update, I did in fact head down to Corpus on Monday afternoon and settled in to a nice place along one of the canals right past the Big Bridge. I have been fishing off my back porch so to speak as I forgot the bed extender and did not bring my kayak down with me. I have been pleasantly surprised as to the fish I have been able to catch!!! I have caught just today 2 keeper trout, the biggest being 22" long as well as a ribbonfish. I also caught around 6 or 7 trout in the 14"-14.75" range that I threw back. I have been using a lure I bought on clearance at Academy and plan on going to buy a few more of it called at "Mojo Mullet." It is a segmented lure that imitates a swimming fish action when retrieved. Now, im not sure what tomorrow is going to bring as the low is supposed to be 36 degrees and I am thinking that this is a bit cold for the fish.....and me......lol. Thank you to all of yalls advice!!!!

Yeh black drum and sheepshead are not too into lures. Though I did catch four keeper sheepshead on the fly rod on the trip I did down there over Veterans' Day on a little shrimp imitation I tie. We were using live shrimp on this past trip. Wish I could get my yak down but my fishing partner does not have one nor does he have wading gear and the area bayside of Packery channel looks awesome. Good luck on the rest of your trip.

I've been following Nick and Breakaway for many years now. Quite a character to meet!! Learned tons from his videaos about distance casting, and surf fishing in general.
