I have been a lurker on this site for years and just did a little fishing here and there. As I have gotten older I have now traded in the sport boat for a fishing boat. To my point, I grew up fishing lake Tawkoni with my grandpa. I seem to remember catching fish all the time. I have read fishing reports, I have lurked here and have seen post from everyone, but I can't seem to catch anything on that lake.
My wife and I fished Cedar Creek about three weeks ago and pulled in about 26 with about 12 keepers. I have fished Tawakoni the last two weekends and I caught one single baby cat.
I am using multiple types of bait. I use chicken breast in strawberry jello, cut shad, live shad, cut blue gill and live blue gill. I have even gone as far as using cut skip jack from the bait store.

all of these baits work at Cedar Creek, but can't get on the fish at Tawakoni.

I am also using my fish finder to search for structure. I have tried fishing deep, and fishing shallow.

what am I doing wrong?

Sometimes that lake can be really hard it doesn't always give up big ones.... But we've had fronts coming through up my way I know it's getting colder down your way sometimes that cold messes them up down there I've been down there fishing when it's occurred

And they got lockjaw... You didn't tell us if you were bank fishing or boat fishing it does matter

If it ain't broke don't fix it...but go ahead and work on it anyway.....

Big Sam...I am boat fishing. I have been trying different sides of the lake. North and South of the two mile bridge. I am fishing out of a Tracker 170, so any kind of wind picks up and that is a rough ride to other parts of the lake in that boat.

In my experience, tis the season for quality not quantity. Definitely need some colder weather though.

Search for Tawakoni catfishing on YouTube. There are several videos out there that will help.

Biggest thing I tell anyone whether is Blues at Twok, Striper on PK, Trout & Reds in CC Bay, you can't catch fish where they ain't. Numero uno. Get yourself the navionics webb app or the app on your Iphone and look for characteristics common with Big Blue travel. Timber is your friend. Have fresh Gizzard Shad on hand.
