What year is it? My old '13 did that once in a while and it was the sending unit in the the DEF tank.

Make sure you fill it up all of the way. It can take a couple of drive cycles to reset. My '16 does it periodically.

Yeah, mine would do the same thing. Need to fill it up the entire way and drive it around a little before it would reset itself.
Just delete it and thank me later, completely different motor after you do this.

Mine did the same thing. It reset after a hundred miles or so. As a result, I don’t let my DEF get that low so there’s not an issue. I try to let it get low enough so I can add a full box.
That reminds me I need to add some.

I wouldnt discourage deleting it, however it is quite possible that just adding 1 box/jug etc. of def didnt fill it enough to reset the light.

The DEF tank capacity is not quite 5 gallons so one box/jug does not top it off if it is near empty. The computer did not reset for me once until the tank was completely full. It's not rare the fill level sensor to go bad but I started with something cheap and easy first.
I've quit buying the boxes/jugs and fill up with bulk fluid that you can get at the truck stops, just go to the big truck pumps. One it's cheaper, two it's normally fresher (DEF has a shelf life), and three you get positive confirmation the tank is full.
