I may or may not have made a post about this in the past. Can’t remember so sorry if I did.
Anyone’s child a member? How do y’all like it?

Prizes and awards aren't what some of the other HS circuits offer but they seem to have a good time.
I talked to the guy that runs it last year and they are still in an infant stage. From what I've seen on the www, a lot of their older anglers fish THSBA and they Lonestar group doesn't seem to mind posting on their page when a team does well in THSBA. Something a lot of "competing" groups don't do, so good on them for promoting kids in general.
Do your homework on ACTUAL prizes that FLW and BASS offer. They throw a lot of fluff out that isn't real time, which is no reflection on the local guys trying to get kids on the water.

Both of my boys are members. They are in high school now and don't fish a ton of the tournaments anymore but they continue to be members and compete in the tournaments that we have time for. It's a great organization. It's basically your local bass club atmosphere. It's about teaching the kids. Not about the prizes. The focus of the organization is the 14 and under age groups, but there is a high school division as well. Most of the high school competitors really focus on helping the younger kids. The cost is very low. Most of the money to run the club comes from donations. Robert, the gentlemen that heads up the club, does an amazing job. He truly does it to help make the kids better and help them learn. I honestly can't think of a better run youth organization anywhere. I highly recommend it.

My kid is 11. Are there other clubs for this age? I'm thinking Lonestar will be your best bet for kids under HS age. I know of a couple of THSBA teams that have "underclass teams" but they don't really compete except in their own club a couple of times a year. Anything that gets them on the water is great and as TTG said, the Lonestar guy seemed to be a really stand-up guy when I spoke with him.
