First "winter" with a boat. Boat stays outside with cover on body and on motor. I plan on using my boat this winter. What I do right now is drain water from lower unit by bringing down motor and add sea foam stabilizer. DO I have to drain lines or fog the system for nights that will freeze or is this only when I plan to store my boat for long periods?

I've never drained lines or fogged. I do check my lower unit oil for signs of water intrusion.

All I do is lower the motor as far as I can to make sure it has drained. If you are storing it for over a month in cold weather, make sure ALL the batteries are fully charged. Starting in late October, I start adding Stabil to my gas. You never know when the weather will keep you off the water for an extended period of time.
