My sho has 648 hours and i noticed it smoked on the last fishing trip. It smoked the last 3 times I started it, but stopped after a few seconds I checked my oil and it read 2inches above the top hole on the dip stick. Not water mix but has a smell of fuel to it. I’ve read new engines do this but will they do this at higher hours?

Sounds like the fuel isn't being burned off completely. Lots of reasons this can happen: Poor combustion. Injector problems, worn engine parts like valve guides, etc. Do not run the motor until this problem is fixed.

Need to change the oil. Sounds like it is making oil a little. Need to run it harder. Too much lugging around. Sometimes they do smoke a little due to a little oil getting past a slightly open valve when you tilt it up. If oil level is above the top hole on dipstick it is over full.
