For those that were around Nacogdoches and needed tackle you probably ventured out to Hales tackle shop a time or two. It was just a little portable building in the Appleby community but it was super cool to a young college kid like me. Going to college at SFA I first met Jerome in probably 1998 or 1999. He was one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He had great stories of Rayburn back in the day even before it had water in it. If he didn't have what you needed in the shop he'd get on the phone and order it immediately. I'll never forget in the very early 2000's when frog fishing hadn't even started, he had some original snag proof frogs. Maybe 2-3 colors. We bought everything he had and the rest is history. You take those days for granted looking back once you hear the news of someone passing and I regret not being able to see him one more time. He'll be missed for sure. I heard even just recently he was too weak to get out to his shop so he just let guys go in a get what they wanted and let him know what they got. He'd give you anything you needed. Great man that'll be missed by many

Sorry to hear about his passing. I moved from Nacogdoches years ago, but before that I made plenty of drives out Appleby Sand Road to buy the plastics I couldn't find anywhere else at Hale's. He'll be missed.

prayers for the family. He will be missed for sure. The last time I was in there he had just gotten back from Houston and his wife let me in the shop.

RIP Jerome, was in same bass club with Jerome when we were both much younger. He loved to fish a little George. All year, any depth. Prays for family.
