Corporations were already making record profits before the tax bill and are now flush with cash. The tariffs and now covid have kept many from expanding, however. The truth of the matter is before the tax bill many Fortune 500 companies paid no taxes, and others got large tax breaks. Although the tax rate was purported to be 35%, the average rate paid was far less than that and was actually in line with most other industrialized nations. If the Senate stays GOP, I'll be surprised if taxes change. The market normally fares well if corporate profits are good.
