Im sure harvesting is a factor, but not the main one in my opinion. Its a combination of events that causes a lake to cycle.

I have heard these arguments on several lakes, harvesting and pressure. But fishing returns sometimes within week in some cases.

Remember Bassmaster said it was the #1 lake. I rest my case.

I have never experienced the great fishing I have heard about on Toledo Bend on any of my trips there. Maybe it's a matter of only being really good if a person knows some specific deep areas that hold fish. To me that's not the definition of excellent fishing for the overwhelming majority of anglers.

There is no lake where you can go up and down the bank and be successful year round, only 5 percent of the bass ever enter the shallows! But your right about the deep water structure, and that’s where 95 percent of the bass live!

That's a completely false statement in most East Texas lakes

According to TP&W the catch and release rate on Rayburn is over 70% and on TB it's around or less than 30%. Which do you think provides more opportunities to catch.

TB has a pretty significant giant salvinia problem and both states are spraying it. The net effect is other water plants killed. So yes, hydrilla and coontail is gone from these areas.

Rayburn is being sprayed less.

Any lake with large amounts of aquatic vegetation will have denser bas population.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

BAHAHAHAHA yeah ok man. I'll tell you what I'll put up $500 right now if you come to lake houston and catch a limit out offshore. And i don't mean 10 foot off the bank. I mean truly offshore. You have no idea what your talking about saying "no lake"

These threads are so dumb. We’ve had a place on the lake for 40 years. It’s been one of the most popular lakes in the country the entire time. The Cajuns have been there since it opened and yet somehow it still becomes the #1 lake in the country time and time again.

You think simple if you think the explanation for T-Bends struggles is the Cajuns.

Yes back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's probably 90% or better of the fish that were caught in Tbend went into the grease and yet it produced limits for almost everybody that showed up year in and year out; especially during the spring time. Yes this horse is getting beat to mush now.........

I have typed my thoughts on this 3 times and erased them all because it does no good to complain on here about people eating bass, as long as it's legal, they can and will do it. Try send some emails to SRA about lowering the limits and maybe that will do some good. I've fish TB since it opened and have seen the catching be really good and then not so good, that's the way it works.

Never test the depth of the water with both feet.

In Wyoming, we used to blame the Colorado guys for poor fishing. We called them “Greenies” back when their license plates had the green mountains on the white background. Bad day? Blame the Greenies! It’s human nature to blame “those other guys over that way.”
