my wife was at UBS PaineWebber for 40 years and got let go last year..It sucks when this happens

At my job we are hanging on by a thread.
Half the employees have quit because we work half a week and get unemployment for the other half.
There is a hiring freeze so the problems just dont get fixed properly.
They say in January it may get better

"Corporate Restructuring" simply means someone high up (or their relatives that are on the same payroll) is in fear of losing their job. This is generally due to some bigwig make some really, stupid mistakes. Time to "Go in a different direction!"

It's only going to get worse....I left the electrical trade after 20 years to be a home builder project manager, might need to bag up and jump on the solar wagon to be able to work. Who knows.

My dad just got laid off from his company of 25 years.
"Corporate Restructuring"
What makes it worse is his wife just got laid off 2 months ago so now they have no income.
They'll be fine financially. They could probably retire early if they wanted to but they won't. Still sucks though. So ready for 2020 to be over. 2020 has been one messed up year. It has been a challenge for me in several ways. I thank my Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ for guiding me through these tough times.  I will be praying for your Dad and Mom! The Lord Jesus Christ has control.

Corp. structure has changed in recent years. Most Companies want an employee for 7-10 years.
Then replace them with someone younger and eager to succeed for less money.
Rinse and repeat.
The first 5 days after the Weekend are the Hardest.

Spot on ....is why I chose a path that many can't hang onto....makes me more valuable. It may come crashing down but I'm already feeling out options. Staying a head of the "Game" Just in case

My dad just got laid off from his company of 25 years. So ready for 2020 to be over. Yeah, it sucks. The last number I saw was 22 million of us have lost our jobs this year. Your dad had 10 years less on the job than I did. I'm thankful I put money back and don't have a house payment, car payment, etc.
