My mom was the vocal disciplinarian in my house, yet I don’t really remember anything specific she said. I do remember the leather strap on the top of the fridge though

No quotes. She died when I was 15 from cancer. Being the oldest, she taught me how to iron clothes, cook, cut up a chicken, clean house, etc. because she knew her time was limited. I didn't realize it at the time but do now. More than anything she encouraged me academically, and I don't remember a harsh word from her. Nice memories.

I came home drunk one night and mother met me at the door (I was 16 or 17) she said "what do you mean coming home half drunk?"

I replied "Because I didn't have enough money to get all the way drunk"

I lived to regret that.

My mother lied,I think. Before she whupped my butt she said "this is going to hurt me more than it will you". I don't recall seeing tears running down her face!
